Scarperia e San Piero ~ 11-12 May 2024

On 11 and 12 May 2024, the 8th annual Scarperia Wine fair will take place at the evocative Palazzo dei Vicari in Scarperia and San Piero.

During this event, wine enthusiasts will have the chance to enjoy wines from all over Italy. It will be an unmissable opportunity to immerse yourself in the fascinating world of wine, through itinerant tastings held in the marvellous Renaissance setting of the Palazzo dei Vicari in the heart of the village of Scarperia, considered one of the “Borghi più Belli d’Italia” ('Most Beautiful Villages in Italy).

The inauguration of the event will be on Saturday 11 May at 11 a.m., in the presence of the Scarperia and San Piero Municipal Administration and the Board of Directors of Pro Loco Scarperia APS, the main organiser of the event.

On Saturday 11 May from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday 12 May from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., many wineries from different regions of Italy will be presenting their best products.

In addition, several associations will join the event to further enrich the visitors' experience. Participants will also have the opportunity to purchase their favourite wines directly from the Wine Shop set up inside the Palazzo dei Vicari.

Thanks to the historical setting, as well as tasting wines of excellent quality, visitors will also be able to admire the marvels the palace has to offer, such as the objects of art including Brunelleschi's clock, the sumptuous frescoed and partially furnished rooms, the regional and local knife collections, and the spectacular view from the Palazzo's bell tower of the Mugello hills and the picturesque town of Scarperia (all included in the ticket price).

The exhibition “The Medici: People of Mugello - Family Portraits from the Uffizi Galleries”, is also still on display, an event not to be missed!

Throughout the weekend, in the atrium of the Palazzo dei Vicari, there will be a refreshment point with delicious local products.

In addition, while strolling through the streets of the historical centre, you will have the chance to admire the numerous shops selling items of typical local craftsmanship, including the renowned cutlery for which Scarperia is still called the “city of knives”.

So an experience combining enogastronomy and culture in a charming village, steeped in history and just a stone's throw from Florence, which still retains an authentic traditional atmosphere.

Tickets can be purchased at the ticket office located in the Palazzo dei Vicari at the price of € 20.00. For FISAR, AIS and European School of Sommelier members, there is a reduced price of € 15.00.
